Name Board

Few days back my brother came to my native .that day evening we decided to go for walk. By walk we came to our village primary school. As soon as we reached the school I showed him Name board of the school which was gifted by me and I started to tell the story how I had gifted it...
When i was studying in 7th standard one of our teacher asked our class “who will present Name Board to the school?(because we were final year students of the school). As it was a Govt. Higher primary school, at that time (year 1995)there was no name board to identify the school from outside especially when there was a pin drop silence in the class room (one could identify by hearing children screaming).
Without thinking about the future effect and affect I raised my hand. I agreed to give NAME BOARD.

With the help of my friend Ashoka I found one artist in our neighbor village. After meeting him i came to know that it would cost approximately RS.200.. Next big question was how to arrange the money...At that time there was no pocket money culture so I did not have even a single rupee...I was very afraid to ask money with my father. I thought of not to give Board but to keep my promise I decided to take a big risk of arranging money.
Deal was set for RS.100, for painting and writing school name on the board. Along with Rs100 I had to give sheet metal and other required material to prepare the board. From that day I started to steal Rs10 daily where ever it possible in my house and also i collected Rs 10 by selling my old books and notes (I was feeling guilty whenever stealing the money) . After 15 days i managed to collect Rs.100 (Stolen money).
I gave Rs.100 and necessary material to artist to complete the Name board. Within two days, board was ready with school name and presenter name. As i was afraid of my father beating me, I did not dare to bring it to my home. Directly I carried it to my school and gave it to school head master he was so happy. (He did not know that it was from stolen money)

As my sister was also studying in the same school, my gift news had reached my home (at the speed of light) before i reach. In home my father asked me that from where I had got the money.. i was almost struck blind and dumb in front of my father......and he lost his cool and beaten me like anything .............
I told above story to my brother and I asked him e “You can see my name in name board even after I left the school, what about your name in your school?”
He said “What’s there in that my name has been sculpted on Benches, Desks, tables and walls of our class rooms and also on back seat of school bus ”
I kept quite.
